I recently received BLUETTI\u2019s newest product, a very interesting one that is quite different from the normal portable power station lineup. The BLUETTI FridgePower<\/a>* is designed specifically for use with refrigerators. Rather than trying to be a broad solution for all kinds of uses, it is tailored to be the perfect solution for backing up your fridge.<\/p>\n

It can be a real hassle to pull a refrigerator out every time there\u2019s a power outage or potential power outage in order to plug it into a backup power source, then push that big fridge back in place, and then have to do it all over again if another power outage or risk of power outage comes again in an hour, a day, a week, or a month.<\/p>\n

Knowing that our refrigerator is probably our most important appliance, critical to keeping our food safe, BLUETTI came up with a solution. We should note that this is also thanks to battery technology evolving so much that such a system is now possible, practical, and cost efficient. Such a product was surely not an option 5 to 10 years ago. In any case, BLUETTI is the first I\u2019ve seen come up with this specific solution.<\/p>\n

Update 4\/16: BLUETTI has now announced the price of the FridgePower as well as a campaign on Kickstarter with big discounts<\/a>. Price, Availability, & Electricity Savings<\/h3>\n

The BLUETTI<\/span> FridgePower just debuted on Kickstarter<\/a>, at 8:00 AM PT\/11:00 AM ET on April 16. The Kickstarter campaign runs through May 31. The launch price for the FridgePower on Kickstarter starts at $759 for the standalone unit (42% off<\/em>) and $1,398 for the FridgePower + BlueCell 200 bundle (44% off<\/em>). These discounts are available via the limited Super Early Bird Tier<\/em>. All Kickstarter pricing includes tax and shipping for the US market. Also, when we initially published this review, several commenters asked about the ability to program the system to take advantage of time of use (TOU) pricing \u2014 the ability to have the unit charge itself up during low-electricity-cost, off-peak hours and then discharge without the help of grid power during hours of higher electricity rates. That is indeed an option in the settings of the system via the BLUETTI app. Though, I still need to test it myself to confirm it works as desired. I\u2019ll follow up with an article about this later on.<\/p>\n

Experiencing the BLUETTI FridgePower<\/h3>\n

Again, the system I\u2019m talking about here is the brand new BLUETTI FridgePower \u2014 in fact, it\u2019s not even for sale yet, but you can sign up for exclusive early-access perks here<\/a><\/del>. Update: Pricing, as noted above, is now available on Kickstarter<\/a>.<\/em> It\u2019s thin, sleek, and made to fit on top of a refrigerator or right next to one. It acts as a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to one of your home\u2019s true essentials, your fridge. Going through a power outage and disaster is hard enough, but losing a full fridge of food makes it all the more difficult. Having a UPS like this can at least help to prevent that and keep your food fresh while you deal with other matters. Below, I\u2019ll go through some pictures of the system connected to my fridge, and then I\u2019ll show more pics and specs from BLUETTI highlighting different facts or usage options.
